RIM offers Blackberry users apps as apology

In a statement released this morning
the company said that its users
would get their choice of apps free
of charge as an "expression of
appreciation for their patience". This
might suggest that the firm missed all
of the negative comments made by
its users last week, not to mention
the suggestion than many of them
were looking to jump ship to
alternatives, including Apple's
Iphone 4S.

"Our global network supports the
communications needs of more than
70 million customers," said RIM Co-
CEO Mike Lazaridis. "We truly
appreciate and value our
relationship with our customers.
We've worked hard to earn their
trust over the past 12 years, and
we're committed to providing the
high standard of reliability they
expect, today and in the future."

Named applications include SIMS 3,
Bejeweled, Texas Hold'em Poker 2,
Bubble Bash 2, Shazam Encore, Photo
Editor Ultimate, and Vlingo. If those
do not impress you, and who could
blame you, RIM said that its
enterprise customers will get one
month of technical support free.
