SIASIA AND THE PLAYERS ARE TO BE BLAMED- IKPEME

Nigeria Football Federation technical department chieftain,Dr.
Emmanuel Ikpeme, has put the blame of Super Eagles
Non qualification for the 2012
African Cup of Nations on the laps of
the coach, Samson Siasia and the
players. He said the failure
has not affected the
image of the NFF in any way.
He claimed that even though the NFF
is disappointed that the Eagles did
not qualify for the tournament, the
image of the NFF is not dented and
they have no questions to answer.
Dr. Ikpeme did admit though, that
the NFF has not had a good year
because of the distractions
occasioned by the frequent court
cases they have been drawn into
and the internal squabbles that
have become a mainstay of the
organisation. He also said that
everything was done to ensure that
the Super Eagles qualified for the
African Nations Cup and that the
technical committee provided
everything the coach and players
needed to qualify for the
tournament. He said,
“We did everything
within our power to help the team
qualify. The blame should be on the
coach and players.”
Reacting to the call by a section of
football fans and stakeholders for
the head of Samson Siasia he said:
“the same fans that clamoured for
his employment are the ones calling
for his sack. He should have known
that they would call for his head if
he failed. That will not affect the
decision of the technical committee.
We will receive his report and then
make a decision afterwards.”
Nigeria failed last Saturday, to
qualify for the African Nations Cup
for the first time since 1986.
